How to Fight in the Dark

The lights don’t turn on when you hit the light switch. You find out why the lights don’t go on when you head for the circuit box in the garage. A mugger comes out of the darkness at you, swinging a club viciously, and you wake up in the hospital.

You think a fight is a stand up affair, on a good surface with good lighting so you can see everything? You think the mugger is going to turn on the lights and tell you to take your best karate stance because he intends to beat you up? You’ve been watching too many many bad movies, my friend.

The fight will happen in an alley on slick gravel with no lights. The fight will happen in your backyard on the grass late at night. The fight is going to happen when you least expect it, and it will be dark to give your mugger an advantage.

It is actually easy to fight in the dark, you just have to get used to moving in the dark. One of the easiest exercises to prepare you, no special equipment needed, is to just move around your house late at night. Turn the lights out and remember where the furniture is, and move around.

Do your forms, shadow box, pretend there is somebody there, and soon you will have an intuitive feel for moving around in the darkness. This matter of developing intuition is what it is all about. You must know where everything is without having to rely on your eyes.

Practice moving around your backyard like a ninja, climbing a tree when it is dark, actually building up to rolls and gymnastics. You can also set up an obstacle course, ladders up to short jumps down, climbing over the house, learning how to navigate no matter how dark it gets. You can eventually have somebody else set up the obstacles, now your awareness is going to have to turn up as the game is going to turn unpredictable.

Finally, you must get friends to play with. Have the fellows you train with doing this with you, and start having wars. Two teams, both dressed in black, playing in the dark, remember to wear mouthpieces and practice relaxing when you fall.

It doesn’t have to be the end of the world if a fight happens in the dark. You can become more aware, train yourself, and all while having fun. Just think, having fun, playing games, and being the ninja…that poor mugger doesn’t know what trouble he is about to get into!

Exercise For Back Pain – Improve Posture To Reduce Pain

There is no denying that chronic back pain can be extremely difficult to live with. Whether we are just sitting still or moving about the house, our backs are the key element in performing any task that we want throughout the day. Even the simplest of things become hard to deal with when suffering from back pain.

Something that is taken for granted, such as posture, is something that can be a cause of back pain later down the road. Poor posture is the cause behind a lot of chronic back pains and aches. The thing is though, many people assume that the pain is related to something that just happened instead of it being something that has simply built up over time.

The back is critical to overall health. It supports a large amount of weight and keeps us up-right. Furthermore, numerous nerve endings connect through the spine and associated muscles, muscles which connect throughout the entire structure of the back.

When things such as postural issues are not addressed, a serious problem can form later on down the line. When there is a lot of strain being placed on the muscles in the back, you will notice that you will begin to hunch which results in a lot of tension being placed on your spine. The muscles then tighten which shifts your vertebrae out of its proper alignment. When this happens, a lot of pain and stiffness result and the terrible cycle will simply continue.

The key to avoiding back pain is simple. First, you must perform specialized exercises to strengthen muscles that have weakened due to disuse.
