Once there, they are then sent to the electrodes which then send them to the brain for interpretation into sound.

A cochlear implant does not produce sound as we are familiar. Instead, it translates sounds from the environment into signals which are then transmitted to the brain for translation.

The cochlear implant requires extensive training from a qualified professional. In addition, age is also a factor. It seems that young children have no problem transmitting this information; however older adults seem to have a higher degree of difficulty with this task.
