The importance of educating children about food
So many people suffer from obesity nowadays. The number of diet sites on the internet is constantly increasing. Almost every family is somehow affected by obesity – sometimes the parents are too heavy and in many cases also the children. The main reasons why obesity occurs so frequently in America are too little exercise and too unhealthy nutrition.
In our fast-moving world many parents don’t have the possibility to prepare not even one proper meal per day for their children. This leads to the fact that many children eat at school or at fast food restaurants. Obviously there they don’t get healthy and nutritious food there. Another problem is that children prefer hamburgers and ice cream to salad and vegetables, so they don’t make a healthy choice when they can select their food.
It is the duty of the parents to teach their children about the importance of food and about which foods are healthy and which are not. A well balanced nutrition is very important for the development of children and parents should therefore educate their children about the different types of food available.
On the internet you can find many diet websites that give information about nutrition and also include pictures of the food pyramid that are a visual way of showing your children how much of which foods they should eat.
Teach your children about food as early as possible to ensure that they won’t be affected by obesity!
