Lee Greif – Served on Board of Directors of the Menorah Medical Center for over 17 years

Kansas City, Missouri was not necessarily known as a competitive market in the hospital and medical field. Once news broke out of the intentions of Menorah Medical Center, however, that all began to change. Menorah Medical Center was a 430 bed hospital that had found itself in a bit of a financial bind. In 1992, Mr. Grief was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Board in broad attempt to help, or sell, the hospital. In the five years previous to Mr. Grief’s service, the hospital had lost $10 million. This loss needed to be stopped; Mr. Grief, who has served on the Board of Directors for the Menorah Medical Center for 17 years, assumed the position in order to attempt to help the hospital.

The Menorah Medical Center was losing money at a rate of approximately $2 million a year. The hospital wanted to continue, as it was known in the community for being the Jewish hospital, for those who wanted a hospital in line with their faith.

Once the public and industry became aware of Menorah Medical Center’s willingness to seek a partner, the bids began to come in. The goal of the hospital was to approach other companies in the medical and hospital field to attempt to sell or merge the hospital. While they did go out and request some bids, there were some bids that came in from those companies who had not been contacted. Columbia, a known powerhouse in the medical field, lacking a stake in the Kansas City Market, was one of those companies. When Columbia made their unexpected and unprovoked bid, the bidding war began to take shape.

Health Midwest, a company that already had a stake in the market, came in and captured the winning bid; while buying the hospital, they would merge with the Menorah Medical Center to open op a new Jewish center on the other Menorah Campus. This 200 bed hospital would be built as the old 430 bed hospital was slowly taken out of commission.

Through the sale of the Hospital, the Jewish Heritage Foundation was created. A portion of this money came from the sale, and Mr. Grief was the first chair men of the board. The board hands out grants to charities, and recently handed out over 100 grants to local charities in the last year. The foundation has been considered a success, helping the community in multiple ways. This was partially thanks to Mr. Grief’s volunteer work and his impressive work as Chairman of the board.

You Can Get Tinnitus Relief!

If you hear noises or have a ringing sound in your head, it could be Tinnitus. This is because of certain trouble involving outer, middle or inner ear. Some people can have a very mild case of tinnitus; some people are finding the tinnitus to be extremely loud. Many people don’t realize tinnitus is a real condition that can be treated and they tend to suffer with these symptoms instead of seeking medical help.

If you know the symptoms, you should be able to determine if you need to see your health care provider. The main signs of having tinnitus are hearing ringing in the ear or noises in your head.

These sounds include the following:

These noises or sensations can be very annoying and interfere with your job, recreational activities and normal everyday life. It can become difficult to concentrate when these noises are loud. Watching television, listening to music, and trying to hear people speak to you are all made more difficult.

The sounds heard are sometimes described as phantom noises and they range in a variety of tones and pitches. Most people hear it as a high pitch squeal, but others report hearing it as a low roaring noise. A single ear, or both at the same time, can be afflicted with tinnitus. Some people have the noise permanently, while others only have it on occasion.

Normally, tinnitus is something that only the person with the condition can hear because it is not coming from any external source. Subjective tinnitus is what this is commonly referred as. However, in very rare cases, your health care physician can hear the sounds you hear when they perform your examination. This type is referred to as objective tinnitus.

Other signs of tinnitus exist which a number of people report. There are some individuals who complain of ear pain as well as headaches. Some have pin-pointed a full sensation in either one or both ears. A common feature of tinnitus is a feeling of dizziness on sudden movement

Depression is also associated with tinnitus. It is speculated by some that the aggravation that results in dealing with the noises, can cause a person to be depressed. This appears to show that once tinnitus is treated properly, it can stop the signs of depression.

If you are experiencing the symptoms of tinnitus, please visit your primary health care physician. They can perform several tests to determine the origin of the noise. The more information you can provide for your doctor the easier it will be for them to determine the cause and the treatment.

Symptoms can be dealt with through a couple easy steps. For instance, you should avoid any kind of loud noise whenever possible. If you don’t want to become overly tired, make sure to get your eight hours a night. You must keep your blood pressure in check and reduce the salt you eat. Improvement of your overall general health may help reduce the symptoms of tinnitus.

There are many people that don’t realize they have a medical condition and they try to ignore the noises they hear. Testing is essential if any of the above mentioned tinnitus symptoms are reported. You can get tinnitus relief and be free from it. Contact your health care provider.

And Then, There’s Cholesterol The total cholesterol count is made up of three different kinds of cholesterol: LDL cholesterol, also known as bad cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, or good cholesterol, and VLDL cholesterol (which isn’t considered that important). Doctors recommend that you keep your LDL cholesterol level below 100 mg/dL, and HDL cholesterol level above 40 mg/dL. You Can Reduce Your High Cholesterol If your total blood cholesterol level is too high, your first priority should be to reduce it to a level below 240, or better yet, below 200.
