Choosing Your Type of Lasik Surgery
Do you feel like you don’t look very good your spectacles? Find your way out with lasik surgery. You can minimaize your use of spectacles or lenses with this surgery. The procedure might also make you free from using the glasses or contacts. A laser is used beneath the corneal flap to alter the shape of cornea. It enhances the vision and helps to fix refractive errors.
A laser excimer is used in the lasik surgery. This is created by Bausch and Lomb, Alcon, Visx, Wavelight, Nidek and others. There are different types of lasik procedures including a traditional laser surgery, a wavefront optimized treatment and a wavefront guided treatment.
The regular laser procedure is the most typically performed surgery used. The surgery is based on the level of the glasses previously needed by the patient. Specific parameters are used for the surgery for different patients. Though this is a popular and commonly used type of surgery, it has a couple potential problems.
Secondly, the wave-front optimized procedure is an option. This one is performed using the Wavelight laser. Along with the method of the conventional technique this procedure type allows for even further details to be incorporated. Your cornea’s thickness and curvature is measured and a dose of laser technology is used in the corneal area. But most notably it has scored over the previous laser type by eliminating the shortcomings.
Finally, there is also a wave front guided surgery. It is also known as custom Lasik. Severe complications in the optical system can be discovered before the surgery is performed. The procedure uses a technique called wave front mapping.
Like all surgeries, wave front guided Lasik has its share of risks also. Over correction and under correction of your vision can be possible post surgery. Glasses may still be required. Your eyesight might not be fixed. You could even lose your eyesight.
Though there are risks, this surgical procedure is known to be safe, all things considered. The procedure’s accuracy level is extremely high for the correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. It needs much less time and the hospital stay is minimal. The procedure is not painful. Most of the time, a one time surgery totally cures the eye sight issue. It also makes the feeling of visibility better and almost always also vastly improves your eye sight.
Prior to selecting Lasik surgery, you must become aware of a few issues. You must know your individual amount of refractive error, the possible solutions or options, and the kind of laser that will be used. You must have a check of your corneal shape, corneal curvature, corneal thickness, vision stability and age. You must also be aware of your pupil size, the dryness of your eyes, previous history of vision surgery and any previous record of medical or eye issues.
Be cautious in selecting the doctor who will perform your procedure. The eye doctor must be experienced, well reputed, use up-to-date technology, and be available in times of post surgical procedure.
Talk with your eye doctor to determine if a Lasik procedure is the right treatment for you.
