Is Organic Food Better? 4 Reasons To Say Yes!

Once in a while people ask me, sniffily or out of sincere concern, “is organic food better?”. I can truly and without a doubt say “yes” to that!

However, that’s not likely a response that appeases either the contemptuous or the concerned inquirer. We must have more information here!

Nutrients One claim often heard about organic food is that it contains more vitamins and antioxidants than non organic food. This is indeed true, which has been shown in several studies. Organic vegetables grow slowly, compared to conventionally grown; thus making it possible for them to accumulate more of these nutrients before getting harvested.

Less chemicals In conventional farming a lot of chemicals are used to fight pests like bugs, fungi and micro organisms. These chemicals are of course meant to be toxic to these pests, but, unfortunately, they are toxic to many other organisms as well, including humans. And there are so many chemicals going around, creating a not-so-healthy cocktail in our bodies, having effects that no one really knows what they are. There is no way that you can stay totally clear of chemicals, but at least you can avoid some of them by eating organically grown food.

Better taste Blindfold test results usually show that organic food tastes better than non organic. How is this possible? Well, if the vegetables or fruit accumulate more nutrients because they are allowed a longer growth period, then it is more than likely that they also accumulate more of the substances giving them great taste. quite obvious when you stop and think about it.

The environment Obviously, there is also the environmental issue. However, in this article I will just establish the fact that organic food is better for the environment, and promise to dig more deeply into that subject in another article.

Conclusion Not convinced that the answer to “is organic food better?” is YES? Then I suggest you start from the beginning again, and by all means, go look for more information. Because I do wish that all people would realize that it is so important to start eating organic!
