Using Relaxation Music For Meditation

There are several uses for relaxation music. Some enjoy relaxation music while eating dinner at home, or while going for a walk with the headphones on. Others prefer to listen to relaxation music while they are receiving a massage or practicing yoga, or about to fall asleep.

There are so many styles of relaxation music to choose from, and everyone has their own particular reason for choosing one style over another. Ultimately it comes down to what is most effective for helping one accomplish their goal of letting go of stress, and simply relaxing the mind from the daily stress of life.

Some are of the opinion that relaxation music embedded with specific audio sounds known as binaural beats and isochronic tones are the most effective type of relaxation music on the market because they serve to bring your brainwaves to a relaxing level depending upon which frequencies they are set at.

Different brainwave frequencies are associated with different mental states. So by listening to binaural beats or isochronic tones which are set at a certain frequency you can coax your brainwaves to that same frequency, and in doing so, achieve the mental state associated with that frequency.

Maybe an example will help. When you are busy during the day you are generally at the beta level between, say, 13 hz and 30 hz. To get at a relaxed alpha level very quickly you can lie on your back, put on some stereo headphones, and listen to an mp3 or cd embedded with either isochronic tones or binaural beats. If they are set at an alpha frequency level then you will experience a very relaxed state of mind, similar to a pre-meditation state of mind, depending on how long you listen, and how deep the binaural beats or isochronic tones take you.

If you don’t have the time nor the inclination to meditate, then relaxation music embedded with either binaural beats or isochronic tones will give you the same relaxing states of consciousness as does meditation. The difference is this type of relaxation music will bring you to a relaxed state much faster than meditation.

You can find binaural beats or isochronic tones in mp3 or cd format. You can find them either embedded with nature sounds, ambient sounds, or new age music. Or you can find them in their raw tone fashion where they are simply high pitch or low pitch beating sounds in your ears. Most prefer the former, some prefer the later.

People also have different tastes in music, and it comes down to matter of personal preference. But when it comes to binaural beats and isochronic tones it is more about therapy – a complete mental makeover. It all ties in with training one’s brain, and improving one’s life, by regularly listening to cd’s or mp3’s embedded with binaural beats or isochronic tones. This is very similar to what regular meditation accomplishes, but much faster.
