Vitamins For Dry Itchy Skin
If you are suffering from dry patchy skin or dry itchy skin there are some vitamins for dry skin that can be very effective. One of the most important vitamins for dry skin and most forgotten is fish oil. Fish oil is one of the easiest home remedies for dry skin, relieving dry skin patches and for keeping your skin younger too.
Fish oils (also known as omega 3 fatty acids) can also reduce inflammation of the skin and regulate oils so this makes it very effective for not only dry patchy skin, but for skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis.
Most folks don’t realize the important connection between fish oil and a hormone called prostaglandins. Good prostaglandins are important for health young skin.
Prostaglandins are a hormone that helps regulate cell function within the body. Prostaglandins also help balance a hormone called androgen which can cause excess oil production, acne, blackheads and clogged pores.
To get a good dose of these important prostaglandins, you must either eat lots of fish or take concentrated fish oil supplements. However, the problem is most of us are deficient in omega 3 fatty acids and never get enough in our diet.
You can get most of your fish oil from cold water, oily fish like salmon and tuna. But the problem is many people don’t like fish and eating fish more than 3 times a week is not recommend due to polluted waters and toxins in the fish such as mercury and others. As a health advisor I have researched to find a safe, Molecularly Distilled (pure source) of fish oil capsules like Super pure Omega 3 EPA/DHA. You must take care in choosing the right fish oil supplement that is free from PCB’s and other toxins.
Other vitamins for dry include vitamin A which acts as a potent free radical scavenger and quenches free radicals. This helps keep the skin young and helps to slow wrinkle formation. Deficiency of vitamin A include: early or excessive wrinkles, dry scalp and hair, dry itchy skin or dry skin rashes, and dry eyes. Good food sources are egg yolks, carrots, milk and yellow and green leafy vegetables.
Vitamin E is another important vitamin for dry skin and helps speed up cell renewal. It is also an antioxidant and free radical scavenger and helps keep skin moist and hydrated. Food sources of vitamin E include: nuts, seeds, beef, vegetables, and spinach.
