Winning Workouts For Pitchers!

Baseball is the best sport that was ever invented! Need I write more? Growing up I was obsessed with the game of Baseball. I loved to pitch and took every opportunity I could to practice. In fact, I became so involved with Baseball that my parents became a little concerned that I was spending too much time focusing on it. My parents and other coaches would try to get me involved in other sports. But Baseball was, and still is, the game for me.

When I signed up for Little League Baseball at the age of 10, I was immediately assigned to pitch for our team. I fell in love with pitching because I always felt in control of the game and I felt like a real leader. Every time I picked up the ball I knew we would win the game. At a very young age I began to study pitching mechanics and learn more about how to workout like a pitcher. I became totally engaged in what I was doing.

One year, I believe I was in Junior High at the time; I was studying the way Nolan Ryan threw the baseball. I became more intrigued in the way he was working out. I started doing light dumbbell workouts and elastic cord workout programs the way Nolan did them. At the end of that year I must have tried every pitching specific routine available at the time. There was only one problem; I didnt have the time to keep up with all of them at once.

I mention this because it is so vital that any pitcher have a regular workout routine that includes full body workouts, aerobic and anaerobic work, pitching specific workouts, sprinting and running and more. Pitchers are all around athletes and it takes some good time management skills to ensure that you get in all of the necessary workouts required to perform at peak performance. That is why you need a workout partner. You need to find someone that will push you and keep you on pace to reach all of your goals as a pitcher. You will also need to find someone that will throw with you regularly.

Training partners are also good at keeping you motivated when times get tough. I still train with somebody who lifts more than I do or seems to train harder that I do. I love the competition that brings. My point is to find a pitching specific workout routine that works best for you and then find a training buddy that will inspire you to stick with it.
